Peace

I can't help but feel total peace and calm these days. I can't explain it really, especially with the current recession and total unknown with our economic status, and the business that I am currently in feeling the effects of it. But that is not bothering me. Neither is our weather (wet snow and clouds). And neither are any of the other things that normally drive me nuts or bum me out. I am at peace with everything and everyone. It's a very good feeling, and I hope it shows to those who are around me. I think if more people had this feeling in their lives things would not be so bleak, so turbulent, so sad. Life is such a wonderful gift and it is so, so short that to not enjoy it would be a waste. I don't know what the future will bring tomorrow, and that is just fine with me.

PEACE OUT!!!

Back to reality part 2

So it's almost been a week since our return to Idaho from our wonderful two week vacation in Hawaii and I think I am finally back to reality. Nothing like a big late March snowstorm to wake you up from your vacation dream. Also, it was back to the normal schedule, kids off to school, wife off to work, me back to wondering where to go from here. It was great to be back in our home, with our stuff, and sleeping in our bed. You just can't beat the comforts of home. Plus, the thoughts of having nice weather here and all that goes with it (gardening, playing in the park, laying in the hammock) is enough to get me through this reality check. In my ongoing effort to be more helpful around the house with my "part-time" status still going strong I have asked my wife to create a little Dad's Cookbook for me. Just a few simple dishes that I can manage and take some of the pressure off of her. Once I get a few recipes I'll post them here. Also, I plan to handle more laundry duty, something I helped out with a little before but feel I can take on entirely. I have been feeling very, very good about our situation even with the looming economic problems everyone seems to be facing. We have cut back on a lot, and have a plan in place, and when things get better (and I know they will) we will come out of this thing better than when we went into it. Vacation has a great way of renewing ones spirit, even if you come home to snowstorms.

PEACE OUT!!!

Back to reality

The vacation is over...I am back in the cold and at work...and I'm so sleepy. I don't know why traveling makes you tired, but I am still trying to recover, and I traveled on Tuesday. Anyway, I had a wonderful time in Hawaii with the family. Everything was perfect and everyone loved it. I will think of the better stories to write about in the days ahead, but right now I need a nap.

Good to be home!!!

I don't feel too good daddy

I can really feel for all the single parents out there with no support to rely on. My youngest came down with a nasty case of croup the night before both my wife and parents left town. We are on day 3 and she is still a little sick so I am staying home again with her. While at home I've been driving myself crazy reading about the economy, but also have been catching up on daytime TV....yeah right. There is really nothing to watch during the day, especially on basic cable. I can say I've enjoyed the extra time with my girl, even in her sick state. She is mostly a mommas girl, but while my wife is gone I have been able to step in as the favorite. Tomorrow "B" comes home and I can't wait, but mostly because I just miss her...I think I have this taking care of the sick kid thing down now.

UNTIL NEXT TIME...D.I.T. OUT!

Too Funny!

The other night our family had dinner at my parents house. We had pizza which is a great treat for everyone, but sometimes it will put our digestive systems in a tailspin. While driving home I felt a "grumble" and the race was on. I felt my foot press the gas pedal harder the worse my stomach felt. I told my wife about my little issue and had to quote one of my favorite t.v. charterers, Peter Griffin from "Family Guy" saying "B, this is going to be a photo finish!" Then the funny quotes started flowing...."I am poking cotton", "got a bear a knockin'", and even the age old favorite, "gotta drop the kids off at the pool." After this last comment my youngest daughter yells with excitement..."yeah, we get to go swimming now!" How funny is that?

UNTIL NEXT TIME...D.I.T. OUT!
