QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS!!!

Am I the only Dad that feels like he fields more questions in one day than Alex Trebek has over his whole career on Jeopardy? My kids, especially my youngest "R", can weave a web of questions that after a while has my head spinning so much that I feel like driving my car straight into the next stop sign. I love how curious they are, and I love being able to answer their questions and fill their heads with information....but there are times I just want to say "please stop asking me questions and let me be!" But then I am reminded that in the not so far away future the questions will be asked less, and less and maybe even stop. That worries me more than anything else. So, what is your next question?

PEACE OUT DADS!!!

  1. The other week I was taking my 6 yr old to soccer and he asked question after question for the whole 15 minute car ride to soccer. LOL. I guess he is just curious about Stuff!

  2. I've got news for ya. Are you sitting down?

My 16 yo asks JUST AS MANY QUESTIONS as he did when he was younger. They're just more advanced now!

    Buckle up! :)

  3. My 7 year old has slowed down on the questions but they still come from time to time. I don't mind actual questions but questions based on assumptions drive me absolutely nuts.

  4. I just hope my answer will be enough and not get the "why" after it

  5. I'm not worried about the total number of questions as much as answering the same question over and over and over and . . .

My 3.5 year old asks where are we going at least 6 times per car ride. And that's in your typical 5 minute car ride. AHHHHHH!

  6. My youngest (7) asks me if she can ask me a question. Then, I get to field the question. It's like a warm-up question or something, I don't get it. Answering "no" doesn't deter her at all, so I'm just going to wait it out.

  7. We haven't hit that stage, yet, but I am bracing for it. I'm working on developing the patience I need to answer the same question 14 times by randomly banging my head against walls at night.

  8. We're not to the question stage yet. However, even though kiddo knows quite a few words (and uses them when it pleases him) he mostly responds to everything with a resounding "No." often accompanied by a vigorous head shake.

Who knew there were so many different inflections you could put on that word? The kid's amazing.

  9. When I was old enough to think for myself my Dad always helped me figure out the answers to questions rather than just telling me. I hated it at the time but I am certain that the technique helped me develop critical thinking skills. I am glad he did it. Of course that doesn't help with the little ones questions that seemingly have no answers.

  10. The questions just keep getting harder and harder to answer, but at least mine still ask.

  11. Question are great that how they (and we) learn. My 11 year old love asking me questions that he thinks I don't know the answer.

  12. The questions can be a bitch. I want to respect them by answering, but when I ask them to repeat what I said, they have no memory of asking the question to begin with. What gets me more right now is my daughter. Yesterday in the car she was distraught and repeated "I want my daddy" about forty three times (not an exaggeration). Ouch. Hutch
